RECORD CROWD, GREAT RACING FUN HAD BY ALL, OR MOST AT LEAST
August 16/07
When Benson Auto Parts got involved with Motorsports a few years back to promote their ever expanding chain of Automotive supply stores little did anyone know what type of an impact it would have on Motorsports locally. That was once again proven when a record Wednesday night crowd of spectators came through the gates of Capital City Speedway to enjoy some of the best racing of the season. Huge numbers of race cars put on one of the best shows that we have seen in a long, long time as everyone settled in for the Benson Auto Parts Night. Late Models, Four For Fun, Mini Stock, Legends, Thunder Cars and last but least a 50 lap Enduro. Yes this was one great night and for drivers like Justin Holtom and Rick Rump the night was even sweater as they finished 1-2 in the late model feature event. This coming off a week that saw the team work until all hours of the morning to get both cars ready after a bad wreck the week before, heat races where won by Dave Riopelle and Sean Kennedy. Rump also moved back into the points lead after spending a number of weeks looking on from second and third spot. The Legend Class which continues to grow each and every week saw Tim Fernandez protect his points lead with a feature win with Nicole Yarrow winning one heat and Paul Dejong winning the other. Scott Cuthbertson made many people smile when he took the Howard's Pawn Shop Thunder Car to the winners circle, Dave Waite took the second heat with Bruce Makinson taking the first. The Mini Stock was won by everyone's favorite driver Dan Kit, Dave Watchorn and Corey Wilson where your heat winners. The four for Fun was the domain of Jason Basset with Sam Schwartz and Ryan Foley taking the heat wins. Next Wednesday night will see the Late Models running for $1000. to win with the promise of once again seeing a number of out of town cars coming in to get some track time before the big one Sept 8th. Again everyone had to be pleased with the nights racing and the crowd which stuck it out right up till the last car had been declared a winner indicated that.

August Recap
August 23/07
Racing for the month of August has been limited as have the updates. But the team has been working at putting the Limited Late Model #25 back together for Dave Waite and look for news on when the car will see action again. The team is very eager to get it back together and to finish the season off strong. We have been fortunate in that Kawartha Speedway has had 2 weeks off with the Peterborough Fair and the Havelock Jamboree taking place as well as an OSCAAR event that saw the Limited Llate Models have a night off. Dave Waite though, has seen racing action in the month of August with the return of his thunder car #25 at Capital City Speedway, and with a race with Late Model #88, 2 weeks ago at Kawartha Speedway. Dave has also been on hand for a race night in the newly purchased Legend car owned by AJ Dickie at Peterborough Speedway. The race 2 weeks ago in Late Model #88 was a successful night for the team and Dave Waite as they brought home a 7th place finish in what was a caution filled finish. The car looked like it finished with a 5th place result but a last lap caution burned the team as the positions were put back a lap. On Wednesday nights with the thunder car back in action thanks to help from Ken Fisher, Dave has earned himself a checkered flag with a strong heat win and was on track to making it a clean sweep on the night in the feature. But a last lap tangle with the #2 car spoiled the clean sweep and return for Dave as he had to settle for 2nd. The week prior Dave was on hand with the thunder car but was more than happy to help out Ken Fisher who was having car problems and loaned him the car to make sure Ken stayed strong in the points battle. We will update the latest results from last nights Thunder car and Late Model action when they come in. Gilles Seguin has also been on hand Wednesday nights running Late Model #88 and he has been steadily improving as the setup for the car is worked out. Again keep an eye out as results come in. As well AJ Dickie recently made a purchase as he bought a Legend Car. The car has seen action twice at Capital City Speedway now and once at Peterborough Speedway. The first night out the car took a little damage but Kevin Foisey brought home a 2nd place feature finish. Last nights racing action was not as fortunate as mechanical problems set in. The other race at Peterborough S peedway had the car looking strong but an unfortunate racing incident that saw another car rear end the car, tore up the starter and ended the night early in the first heat.

100 Laps Late Model at Kawartha
August 26/07
Racing got under way this past weekend at Kawartha Speedway as the Late Models put on a 100 lap show. The Ottawa area was well represented with Steve Yendall, Steve Munro and Dave Waite all making the show. The Dew Motorsports team and Late Model #88 made the trip to Peterborough through the rain in hopes of getting a night of racing in and for the most part, mother nature cooperated as 91 laps of the 100 scheduled laps were run for the feature. Late Model #88 looked pretty strong at the start of the night as the team battled with setup issues and continued trying to figure out the car throughout the feature race. The car had to come to pit side 5 times as the team constantly made changes to try and make the car drivable for Dave during many of the cautions. Dave fiished the night with a respectable 13th place showing out of the 20 cars that took the green. Steve Munro did well on this night as he battled for the third position late in the race ending with 4th place. Steve Yendall struggled during this night finishing near the back. The Dew Crew will try it all again next friday as the Limited Late Models put on a 100 lap show at Kawartha Speedway. Perhaps a second 100 lap special caution free? Time shall tell.
