Busy Canada Day Weekend
July 03/07

Dew Motorsports had one heck of a busy Canada Day Weekend. Most of the crew headed out Friday to race at Kawartha Speedway where Driver Dave Waite had his best outing to date. The team started the night up front but with a slower car on the pole ahead of us we had to watch as the outside line and cars behind us got into the preferred line, and had to settle for an 8th place finish. The Semi race went much better as Dave returned to the winners circle taking his 2nd checkered flag of the season and winning his second Semi in as many weeks. The feature as well ran very well for the Dew Crew as Dave finished with a strong 5th place. All in all it was likely our best points night at Kawartha both this season and to date. Something the team is very proud of and makes us even more eager to return this coming Friday.

Meanwhile some of our other team members were preparing themselves for what would be a long road trip down to Vermont to pick up the new ACT Late Model. A very excited and happy crew at that!

Saturday saw the team head next door to Peterborough Speedway for some Saturday night racing. A less than desirable experience indeed with questionable flagging, and lineup procedures being the highlight. Dave found himself returning to a track where he has a lot of seat time at, and ran 2nd in points last season to Craig Graham and coming off a close finish 2 weeks prior to Stompin Tom Walters. The team set out eager to return for Saturday night racing at the track after a strong performance only weeks prior, but due to questionable line up procedures, found ourselves starting in the rookie position all night long at the back of the field. Dave quickly ran to the front in the first heat finishing 2nd and repeated in the second heat finishing near the front. The feature saw some slower cars start on the pole with dave sitting next to last having to wait it out as the first 20 laps were run with the slower lead cars running door to door holding back the field. The warning flag flew when Dave tried to make things happen and unfortunately a less than desirable result was had as the car never warmed its tires up on this night. But that is racing, you win some and you lose some.

The team then headed to Barrie to celebrate Canada day as the Late Models and the folks at the Nascar Canadian Tire Series put on one exciting and thrilling race for the fans. Look for the team to return to Capital City Speedway this Wednesday night as we debut the new ACT Late Model.

Capital City Speedway Press Release
AL DICKIE PURCHASE'S JEAN CYR'S CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING ACT CAR
July 01/07

This is some very good news for Capital City Speedway and in particular the Late Model class which has not seen the support that we felt would happen this season, but hopefully this announcement is the start of the turn around for this class. Al Dickie hLate Model #88as just returned home from Albans, Vermont where he has purchased the #32 ACT Late Model Car of Jean Cyr, a car that Cyr won the championship with and a car that will be a very welcomed addition to CCS. The word on the street is that a former Capital City regular Late Model Driver and someone that is considered one of the best drivers in this area is scheduled to do the wheeling of this car for Dickie. We are not at liberty to name that driver at this time but he is someone that everyone will recognize and someone who is no stranger to Capital City Speedway. The Late Model Class at the speedway was in great shape in 2006 but has not had the support this year that is needed if this class is to flourish at the track, hopefully Al's major move will shake up a few of the other teams that have been sitting on the fence. There is no question that we need to have a good car count in this class if the track is to grow in the years ahead and this move along with a few other things that are happening that we cant talk about right now will make the Late Model Class take the lead again in the growth of the track. The picture on the right shows Al and team getting ready to head home from Vermont with the #32 tied down and ready for the trek home to Ottawa and the cars debut This Wednesday night. Al also informed me that a new legend car is also in the works for this team with driver to be name at release time.

Fan Appreciation At Kawartha
July 08/07

The Dew Crew headed out of town this past Friday for a night of racing and Fan Appreciation at Kawartha Speedway. A night that saw driver Dave Waite pull double duty. He was driving his Limited Late Model #25 as well as Allan Dickie's new Late Model #88, a maiden voyage for the newest car to the Dew Motorsports camp. The night started off with the Limited Late Models where Dave ran to a 5th place showing in the first heat and in the Semi had to take the 10th place spot as the black flew for a technical violation (fuel). The Feature ran very well for Dave as he grabbed his best finish of the season to date bringing home a hard earned 4th place finish that saw much of the feature with the bright orange car running the outside line door to door. Meanwhile it should also be noted that Dave being a rookie in the Late Model division and driving his first Late Model race was deemed experienced enough by the officials at Kawartha and allowed to take the pole position based on his drawing earlier in the night. A position Dave decided to pass over and took up the rookie starting position from the back of the field for the night as this was a test race for the car. Dave's first heat and race in a Late Model, saw him finish in 4th place earning a spot in the semi which saw him place 9th. The feature lineup once again saw Dave start scratch at the back of the field on his own request and at one point saw him battling for 5th place. He ended the race with a solid 8th place finish and not a mark on the car. Congratulations Dave, good job in your first Late Model race!

This night was also fan appreciation for Kawartha Speedway and there were indeed many fans who took in this night.

Capital City Speedway Press Release
OH WHAT A NIGHT, JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED THE THUNDER WAS BACK THIS WED NIGHT
July 11/07

The Thunder was back at Capital City Speedway last night (wed July 11) for sure as a good crowd of fans shunned off the bleak forecasts and the torrential down pours at 2:00 pm to witness some of the best racing so far this season. The Late Model Class was back in full force as the largest (by a big number) of cars where present for a great race night which saw Dave Riopelle hold off Rick Rump and Spencer MacPherson for the checker flag. Al Dickie had his new car out with Dave Waite behind the wheel, Matt Moffitt was out contending, Tim Kirby was back for the first time this season and to top it off Steve Munro kept everyone honest with his presence. Yes the late Models where back and we have needed this, and one in particular was back very very strong as Lyle Perkins was leading most of the race until an untimely spin did him in for the night. The spin in front of the main grand stand could have been a lot worse than it was thanks to Lyle's great driving ability. In the feature event the top points runners mowed their way to the front and Dave Riopelle kept his RV Canada back late model up front for the Checker Flag. Dave was joined in the winners circle by long time Capital City Veteran Larry Love to celebrate the win. Yes kicking off the second half of the 2007 season went pretty well, now we just need to keep it going. The Drummond Gas Thunder Car class could once again not hold off the charge of Gregg Ogilvie as he came from dead last to take the checker flag. Tim Fernandez was also a repeat winner with new winners Dwayne Emon and taking home his first ever win in the Mini Stock Class. Ryan Foley was the big winner in Four for Fun which once again saw a huge turnout of cars in a class that has someone new every week. Just a reminder that next week will see the return of the worlds fastest pick up truck on two wheels, Richard Hutchins from the State of Florida will make a special appearance, it is also ENDURO NIGHT as West End Roofing Enduro Night is also July 18.

Kawartha Report
July 17/07

The Dew Motorsports team headed down to Kawartha Speedway this past weekend and took along the #88 Late Model as well as the #25 Limited Late Model. Dave Waite at the wheel of the #25 and Jacob McGrath at the wheel of the #88. The night started of with the #88 claiming its first checkers of the year as Jacob won his first heat in his first race behind the wheel of the #88. The Semi however did not look like it was going to be his race until a late caution came out allowing him to run from 8th up to 3rd on the restart. He finished the night off with a solid performance in the feature capturing 8th place. Look for the #88 to be stronger this week as it returns from Kenyon Products with a setup geared specifically for Kawartha. Meanwhile Dave Waite and the Limited Late Model #25 were having a rare "off" night as the team and car struggled to find some speed. Dave finished the night with a 5th place heat, 9th place showing in the Semi and an 8th place finish in the feature. Results that sent the team back to the drawing boards and garage this week to try and find what has gone wrong. Look for the #25 to be back to its winning ways this coming Friday as Dave attempts to bring home his first checkered flag in a feature for the year and at Kawartha Speedway. This coming Friday night the team has high hopes for both cars and are quite eager to get some racing in.

ACT Castrol Series Press Release
Laperle Wins Big In Front Of Huge Home Crowd At Autodrome St-Eustache
July 29/07

Stock car driver Patrick Laperle scored a popular – and lucrative – American-Canadian Tour (ACT) victory in front of a packed grandstand full of his home-track fans at Autodrome St-Eustache on Saturday night.  In winning the ACTion Super Series 200 – a combination race for the ACT Late Model Tour and the Serie ACT Castrol at the suburban Montreal 4/10-mile oval – Laperle earned $6,000 (US).  It was his first ACT win in his home country, and the tenth of his career.
“It feels so good to win at home,” said the St-Denis, QC driver during victory lane ceremonies.  “We had a bad start to the year (Laperle was sidelined early by illness), but this is a nice way to complete the comeback.”
ACTion Super Series 200 polesitter Sylvain Lacombe of nearby Terrebonne, QC surrendered the lead to Laperle by making a pit stop during a caution period on lap 70.  Laperle had charged from the 12th starting position and was challenging Lacombe’s command before the yellow flag flew.
From the restart, Laperle set a torrid pace for the next 62 laps.  After pitting for fresh tires under caution on lap 132, he made a second charge through the pack, taking the lead away from Williston, VT’s Brian Hoar on lap 155.  He then cruised to victory relatively uncontested.
“Rocket” Roger Brown, winner of the TD Banknorth 250 at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway last Sunday, finished second.  The Lancaster, NH racer ran a steady – although somewhat quiet – race from 23rd starting position.
Lacombe, who again drove into the lead after passing Jacques Laperle – Patrick Laperle’s cousin – on lap 139, looked to have the win within reach before contact with Hoar on lap 154 sent him to the pit area for repairs.  Lacombe quickly made his way back into the podium position, passing Hoar with less than 10 laps remaining.
Unofficially, Hoar finished fourth ahead of Jacques Laperle of St-Denis, QC.  Robbie Thompson of South Hampton, ON, finished sixth in front of Marc-Andre Cliche of Vallee-Jct., QC and St-Felicien, QC driver Karl Allard.  Six-time ACT Late Model Tour Champion Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, VT and Randy Potter of Groveton, NH completed the Top 10 finishers.
The next event for the ACT Late Model Tour is the Phil’s Propane 100 at Seekonk Speedway on the Massachusetts seacoast, Saturday, August 4.  The Serie ACT Castrol and the ACT Late Model Tour will both be in action on Saturday, August 11 – the Serie ACT Castrol at Circuit Ste-Croix near Quebec City, the ACT Late Model Tour at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park.  For more information, call (802) 244-6963 or visit the official American-Canadian Tour website at www.acttour.com.

Dew Motorsports Press Release
Kawartha Runs 100 Laps LLM Caution Free, While LM #88 Readies For St-Eustache
July 29/07

The Limited late Model class ran this past Friday night at Kawartha Downs Caution free. Even more impressive was that this was a 100 lap invitational that saw the best Ontario drivers in the Limited Late model class come to put on a show for the packed crowd. The Dew Motorsports team were thrilled to be a part of this racing event as we took Bruce Baldocks car out running the #25 numbers as the orange #25 was injured the previous weekend. The night started off with the team hard at work trying to get a feel for the car and setting it up for Dave Waite. It had been awhile since this car has seen action at a race track but the car quickly came to life. Dave started last in his heat and unfortunately did not have enough luck, car and setup to get him into the semi. The feature saw every car take the green and the fans were treated to a 100 lap caution free race. Dave ended the night on the infield with mechanical failure but all in all it was a good night of racing for everyone. Congrats to all the drivers and teams who took part in this caution free endurance event. Good show!

Meanwhile half of the Dew Motorsports team was in Quebec as they got ready to start a weekend of racing at St-Eustache with Late Model #88 and Jacob McGrath. The team quickly packed up Saturday morning and made our way to lend a hand with car #88 who had an amazing heat qualifying run easily winning the race by at least 20 car lengths. Local Ottawa Valley driver Steve Munro had to race through the qualifiers and go on to the last chance qualifier. His car looked strong sitting in 4th place but some late cautions hung him on the outside to fall back when racing got underway again. Steve did not make the feature. Meanwhile the #88 driven by Jacob McGrath started on the 4th row in 8th place and ran most of the night in the 9th place to 12th place range untill mid way a 50 laps pace set by some fast cars finally put the car down a lap. Jacob found himself on pit road in the 200 lap race 4 times to either get gas, new tires , adjustments or to fix a problematic hood that eventually was taken off on his last pit stop of the night. Jacob looked strong in the late stages of the race coming back through the lapped car field from around 20th place up to a solid 12th place finish. This night saw some very tight intense door to door racing, where every team had to fight hard for the positions that they got. Congrats go out to Jacob for a solid well run race and to the whole team and crew. A special thank you to those who helped with the car on this night. And a special thank you to Dave Riopelle for the use of his trailer.
